Pharmacological Properties:
Albendazole exerts its anthelmintic effect by inhibiting fumarate reductase, an enzyme in the Krebs cycle of parasites, leading to their death. In some parasites, it suppresses the synthesis of tubulin protein. The drug is effective against all developmental stages of helminths.Neospark+1roqi+1
Pharmacokinetics:
Albendazole is well absorbed orally. Approximately 47% of the dose is excreted in urine as metabolites over nine days. Primary compounds are either undetectable or present for a short duration in plasma, resulting in a rapid onset of action.
Indications:
Used for deworming cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, mules, and fur-bearing animals, including:
Gastrointestinal helminthiases (e.g., bunostomosis, haemonchosis, cooperiosis, nematodiriasis, ostertagiasis, strongylatosis, trichostrongylidosis, chabertiosis, oesophagostomosis, ascariasis, trichocephalosis, toxocarosis, toxascaridosis, ancylostomosis, uncinariosis, heterakidosis)

Dosage and Administration:
Administered orally, without prior fasting, as a single dose, individually or in groups, with or without feed.
Cattle, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, mules, fur-bearing animals: 1 bolus per 300–400 kg body weight (7.5–10 mg/kg)
Pigs: 1 bolus per 300 kg body weight (10 mg/kg)
Side Effects:
No side effects observed even at triple the therapeutic dose.
Contraindications:
Not recommended for debilitated animals, during acute fasciolosis, or in the first third of pregnancy.
Withdrawal Period:
Meat:
Cattle and small ruminants: 14 days
Pigs, horses, donkeys, mules, fur-bearing animals: 7 days
Milk: 5 days
Storage Conditions:
Store in a dry, light-protected place at temperatures not exceeding 25°C.
